Information for Authors

Complete guidelines for preparing, formatting, and submitting your manuscript to MJAE.

I

General Information

The Malabar Journal of Agriculture and Environment (MJAE) is a peer-reviewed, open-access, multidisciplinary journal dedicated to advancing research in agriculture, environmental science, and allied disciplines. The journal publishes original research articles, review papers, case studies, and short communications.

All manuscripts must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Scope of the Journal

MJAE welcomes manuscripts covering, but not limited to, the following areas:

Agricultural Sciences

Agronomy, Horticulture, Soil Science, Crop Science, Agricultural Biotechnology, Sustainable Farming, Agricultural Extension, and Precision Agriculture.

Environmental Sciences

Environmental Science, Ecology, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, Biodiversity Conservation, Environmental Pollution, and Sustainable Development.

Life Sciences

Biological Sciences, Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Environmental Biology, and Plant Physiology.

Interdisciplinary Studies

Integration of agriculture, environment, and life sciences to address contemporary scientific, environmental, and societal challenges.

Submission

MJAE welcomes high-quality manuscripts from researchers, academicians, and professionals worldwide. Submission implies that the work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

All authors must approve the manuscript prior to submission. The corresponding author is responsible for all communication with the journal and must ensure all co-authors are informed.

All manuscripts must include an abstract (200–250 words) and follow the journal formatting guidelines: Times New Roman 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing, 1-inch margins, SI units, and APA 7th edition references.

1.1 Title Page (Separate File)

  • Title of the manuscript
  • Full names of all authors
  • Institutional affiliations (Department, College/University, City, Country)
  • Corresponding author details — email and phone
  • ORCID IDs (recommended for all authors)

1.2 Abstract & Keywords

Abstract — 200 to 250 words

  • Background / Purpose
  • Methods
  • Key Results
  • Conclusion

Keywords — 4 to 6 terms

Provide 4–6 relevant keywords for indexing and discoverability. No references or abbreviations in the abstract.

1.3 Main Text Structure

Present the background of the study, clearly define the research problem, and state the objectives of the investigation.

Main Manuscript — Blind Review Format

The main manuscript file must be prepared without any author-identifying information to ensure a fair double-blind peer review process.

Must be Removed

  • Names and institutional affiliations
  • Acknowledgements section
  • Self-identifying references (anonymized)
  • Author details in file metadata

Editorial Policies & Ethical Considerations

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts. Final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board.

Publication Ethics

MJAE adheres to COPE guidelines. Authors must ensure originality and avoid plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification of data.

Human & Animal Studies

Studies involving humans or animals must include ethical approval from a recognized committee and informed consent from human participants.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest. If none exist, state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."

Authorship & Contributions

Authors must have made significant contributions and approve the final manuscript. Individual contributions (conceptualization, methodology, analysis, writing) must be specified.

Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts are screened using Turnitin and must comply with UGC/KAU guidelines (≤10% similarity). Self-plagiarism and duplicate publication are prohibited.

AI Policy

AI tools cannot be listed as co-authors. Any use of AI-generated content must be disclosed. Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all content.

Funding Statement

Disclose all funding sources. If no funding was received, state: "This research received no external funding."

Copyright & Licensing

MJAE follows an open-access policy under Creative Commons CC-BY 4.0. Authors retain copyright while granting the journal the right to publish.

Publication Process After Acceptance

Proofs

Authors receive proofs for final corrections and must respond promptly to ensure accurate publication.

Online Publication

Accepted articles are published online with a unique DOI. Early online publication may be provided ahead of the issue.

Post-Publication

Authors are encouraged to promote their work through academic platforms, institutional repositories, and social media.
